How it is calculated
The Chief Gear calculator totals Hardened Alloy, Polishing Solution, Design Plans and Lunar Amber for each of the six gear pieces, from their current tier and stars to your target.
All six pieces share one ordered list of levels (Common → Legendary T6, with stars and stages). Each level holds the materials to reach it. The plan sums the levels after the current one up to the target, for every piece. Power and gear score gained are the differences between target and current totals.
The game uses the same material table for every piece, which is why each piece only needs a current and target level.

Questions
- Does the troop type of a piece matter for cost?
- Not in the dataset: costs are the same for every piece. The troop type is shown only to tell pieces apart.
